History of LCA

Life Christian Academy was founded in 1977 under the vision of Pastor J. Dwight Burchett with an enrollment of 50 in Preschool through Grade 6.  In 1985, the school moved to 6801 S. Anderson Road.  In 1999 the school incorporated separately from Eastpointe Community Church.  On April 1, 2013,
LCA purchased its own property at 3200 N. Choctaw Road in Choctaw.  We had hoped to build there before needing to move, however we out grew the temporary facility.  Then the Lord blessed us with a facility that would allow us to grow and help more families.  In December 2019, we relocated to 11601 Jeffords Ave. in Nicoma Park.

We believe our children must carry on our Christian heritage, so our school is dedicated to letting our parents witness their children receiving a well-rounded approach to life. The emphasis is on Christian living, as well as academics, including quality fine arts and physical education programs, all in a challenging Christian environment.

Life Christian Academy provides a learning environment that encourages each student to discover their unique abilities, to develop those graces and skills demonstrated in the life of Christ, to achieve educational excellence in all disciplines, and to exercise their God-given gifts in the expanding opportunities of Christian development.

The teaching staff at LCA consists of dedicated Christian men and women who are fully qualified to administer the program. There is a loving, sharing concern for the needs of students, tempered by the knowledge that self-discipline and structure are needed ingredients in a young person’s life. The school is not designed for students with severe academic or behavior problems, but for Christian families who wish a Christian education.

The elementary curriculum provides an outstanding emphasis on the basic skills of education. The school program is a traditional educational program with teachers meeting individual student’s needs through extra help and attention. Class size is limited to no more than 20 students per class. Teachers in the areas of music, band, physical education, computers, and art staff the program.

Bible is taught as a school subject. Protestant beliefs are taught from an evangelical perspective. There are prayer times during the school day and chapel services once a week. However, the heart of the program is the integration of Christian principles into all areas of instruction.

The high school program is a rigorous college-preparatory program for a student entering college. A full athletic program is also offered to Middle School and High School boys and girls.

Life Christian is accredited by the International Christian Accrediting Association and affiliated with the Association of Christian Schools International.
